COMMUNITY
Protecting the groups that hold our communities together.
Hardrock Cyber runs four rounds of pro-bono cyber security reviews each year for local not-for-profits, charities and sporting organisations. Applications are open all year round.
Why we do this
Community organisations hold more sensitive information than most people realise: member and volunteer details, children’s records, medical and emergency contacts, donor information and bank details.
They’re often run by volunteers, on tight budgets, with IT set up by whoever was able to help at the time. That makes them an easy target, and a data breach can damage the trust a community group depends on.
We think good cyber advice shouldn’t depend on the size of your budget.
Who it’s for
We give priority to organisations that:
Are a registered not-for-profit, charity or community sporting club
Are based in North Queensland
Hold personal information about members, volunteers, clients or donors
Have no paid IT support, or very limited support
What you receive
A scaled-down version of our professional assessment, delivered with the same care and discretion as our paid work:
A conversation to understand how your organisation runs and what information you hold
A practical review of your key accounts, devices, data and backups
A practical, actionable report on what’s working, where the gaps are, and what to fix first
Simple next steps your volunteers or IT helper can act on
Your information is handled under the same strict, onshore data controls we use for every client.
How it works
There’s no cost and no obligation. We don’t sell services off the back of a community review.
